Homework Assignments for Wednesday, February 17 and Thursday, February 18

Leadership: It’s service project day again!  Write a ‘Thank You’ note/letter for someone that deserves to be thanked.  Bring your note to class Friday.  These won’t be shared with the class.  I will just be checking for completion.

Themes in Literature: Unit 9 Test will now be on Friday.  WEDNESDAY – Read “Success” on page 331 and answer the two questions.  Read “A Harder Task Than Making Bricks Without Straw” on pages 332-335.  Answer the questions on page 335 and write at least one paragraph discussing how easy it is for us to take people, common conveniences, etc. for granted and how important it is for us to have a grateful heart even for the simplest things in our lives.  THURSDAY – Read “The Discovery of America” pages 342-347.  Answer questions and do the Write About It on page 347.

Geography: WEDNESDAY – Read pages 194-197.  Answer questions on page 197.  THURSDAY – Read pages 198-205.  Answer questions on page 198 (Let’s Go Exploring) and page 205.

Art: Practice doing a Zendoodle using one of the types we learned in class Friday.  Remember, start with dots.

Leadership: Today is our service project day!  Do an act of kindness for someone in your home 🙂

Themes in Literature: Read and answer questions for the poems and stories on pages 324-329.  Answer “Chapter Concepts” questions 1-5 on page 330.

Geography:  Unit 8 test will be Friday, February 12.  In your Geography workbook, complete Activity 5-8 on pages 63-68.

Art: Research what Zendoodles are.  We will do some of these in class Friday.



Homework Assignments for Monday, February 8 and Tuesday, February 9, 2021

Leadership: None.

Themes in Literature: We are beginning Unit 9 “Joy & Peace”.  Read the poems and short stories on pages 313-323.  Answer all questions.  You do not have to do the Write About It assignments.

Geography: Continue to review and study for the Unit 8 test.  There will not be an essay question for this test.  Test will be Wednesday.

Art: None



Homework Assignments for Wednesday, January 27 and Thursday, January 28, 2021

Leadership: Complete pages 29-31 in your workbook.

Themes in Literature: We’re beginning Unit 8 “Temperance”.  Look up the definition of temperance.  Read page 291 and 297.  In your literature notebook, answer questions for both poems and explain the need for Christians to be careful discerners of what they read.  Read “How Much Land Does a Man Need” pages 298-306.  Answer the following questions:

  1. What was the relationship of the two women comparing country life and city life at the beginning of the story?
  2. What was the name of the main character in the story?
  3. Who offered the main character all the land that he could walk in one day?
  4. Was the main character satisfied with how much land he had?
  5. What happens to the main character at the end of the story?
  6. Write about an experience when you were tempted by greed.  Tell how you were able to overcome the temptation or what happened when you gave in to it. (These will not be shared in class.)

Geography: Continue to work on memorizing the 50 states, specifically the North Eastern, Southern, Midwest, and Plains states.  In your Geography workbook, complete page 65.  Read pages 174-182 in your textbook.  Answer questions on page 182.  Complete the Chapter Review in your workbook on page 69-70.

Art: Sitting somewhere in your home, draw a sketch of what you see.  A sketch is just a rough, unfinished drawing and does not require great detail or shading.



Homework Assignments for Monday, October 26 and Tuesday, October 27, 2020

Leadership: Read Chapter 5 (pages 44-50).  Be prepared to answer questions about what you have read when we return to school on Wednesday.

Themes in Literature: Read pages 9-11 in “Pilgrim’s Progress”.  In your Themes in Literature notebook, answer the following questions:

  1.  What 5 things characterize the man that Bunyan sees in his dream?
  2. Reading the following verses and write the characteristic being described by each set of verses.  Isaiah 64:5-7, Psalm 38:1-7, Luke 14:33, Isaiah 66:2, Jeremiah 6:16.
  3. How did the man respond to his family’s treatment of him?
  4. Evangelist’s message to the man has two aspects.  What are they?

Geography: Read pages 70-76 in your textbook.  Answer Section Quiz questions on pages 72 and 76.

Art: Look up what the 3 primary colors are and what the 3 secondary colors are.  Know which two primary colors make each of the secondary colors.
