Monday:  Complete Grammar book pages 101-102 # A, B, C.
Tuesday: Write a paragraph with at least 5 sentences on the following writing prompt. Use at least one verbal, one adverb, and three adjectives.
Writing Prompt: What is your favorite winter memory? Be as descriptive as possible. 

 

6th Grade Public Speaking
This week you will be preparing a speech about a friend of your choice. The speech will be due next Friday, February 6.
Your Homework for this week, Monday and Tuesday, is to choose the person you would like to present on (could be a parent, sibling, relative) and come up with questions to ask him or her. 

Below is the outline you will need to follow for the speech. 

Outline Plan

  1. Identify your partner
  2. Highlight the most interesting or unusual fact about your friend. 
  3. Give general biographical information
    1. Birthplace
    2. Family members
    3. Parents’ occupations
  4. Highlight other interests
    1. Sports participation
    2. Special Hobbies
    3. Travel opportunities
    4. Recent vacations
  5. Give spiritual biographical information
    1. Salvation
    2. Church
    3. Favorite verse
    4. Service opportunities
  6. Give a closing statement (to tie up the speech). 

 

6th Grade History
In the History book read pages 108-112. Complete Comp Check 7D on page 112.
Continue memorizing the preamble on page 378.
Review mapbook page 17 (refer to History book page 347). Begin memorizing the Eastern States. 

 

7th & 8th Grade Reading
Read Heroes of the Holocaust pages 157-168. Write a paraph summary about what you read.
Continue working on your Final Projects for the book. Due Friday, Jan. 30. 

 

7th & 8th Grade Public Speaking 
Read public speaking book pages 190-192.
Practice reading the speech on page 190.
Record yourself saying the speech.
Listen to your recorded speech.
On a separate sheet of paper, complete Analysis on page 191.
